FALLS ON FIRE

An event in the spirit of Burning Man, on Hawai’i (island)

Thank you to everyone that helped make Falls on Fire 2024 a success! We will announce dates for our next event once the Windward Planning Commission responds to our Special Use Permit application, submitted September 3, 2024. (They advised us that it can take up to 3 months to process applications, so we expect a response by early December.)

Located in Hilo, Falls On Fire is a camping event focusing on art, radical self-expression, community, and swimming in waterfalls!

    • Tickets are pay-what-you-can, with a suggested contribution of $50 and a minimum of $1.

  • What happens here is shaped by the contributions of everyone involved.

Our culture is rooted in the 10 Principles of Burning Man. [click HERE for video explanation] You are free to express yourself and become the art, entertainment, or experience you want to see at the event—whether through art, music, talents, services, gifts, or any other creative offering you wish to share with others.

This is a gifting community — No Vendors, No dinero.

Porta-potties will be provided for participants.

  • We encourage you to gather some friends and create your own unique theme camp!

This event thrives on theme camps and the contributions of participants through events, workshops, creative spaces, music, food, drinks, and more—whether large or small, every contribution matters.

  • Unlike Black Rock City, Falls On Fire is set in a green, wet environment. Expect temperatures between 65–85°F with high humidity, a mix of sun and clouds, and the possibility of rain and mud.

Please note that the waterfalls and streams are accessible at your own risk.

    What to Bring:

    • Protection from sun, rain, and mud for yourself, your gear, and your camp.

    • Camping gear for sleeping and setting up your camp.

    • Enough food, water, and ice (optional) for the duration of your stay.

    • Reusable eating bowls, utensils, and cookware.

    • Toiletries, clothing, electronics, and headlamps.

    • Any items or materials needed for your contribution to the event.
